Adult Religious Exploration Committee

Our Emerson Adult Religious Exploration (ARE) Committee plans Sunday morning exploration activities led by our minister, members, or guests. Explorations include sermon topic discussions (Sermon Reflections), social activism opportunities, parenting learning sessions, guided spiritual practices, and earth-centered events.

Recent offerings:

  • Sermon Reflections
  • UU Parenting
  • Dealing with Grief
  • Peacemaking
  • Introduction to the Pagan Path
  • Faith in Action: Ethical Eating
  • Popcorn Theology films with discussions

Our ARE Committee plans and schedules guest speakers from community groups, guided educational hikes, mentored career seminars, a parenting book club, and many other opportunities for adult exploration.

ARE exploration sessions meet onsite each Sunday from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., the same time that youth religious education takes place. Three or more exploration offerings are available each Sunday. Some are single Sunday events, such as Sermon Reflections, and some are ongoing explorations over several Sundays, such as UU Parenting sessions.

Our ARE Committee provides announcements to the Weekly Emerson Notebook email, the Synergist monthly newsletter, and the RELIGIOUS EDUCATION tab in this website to announce upcoming Adult RE offerings.

Please send an email to us if you have questions, comments, or suggestions about our Adult RE program or our Adult RE Committee.
