Emerson Choir: Lifting Voices and Spirits
We are a vibrant, welcoming, and devoted group that exists to enhance the worship service, deepen spiritual growth through music, offer a social outlet for adults who enjoy singing, and provide the congregation with an additional venue for ministry both within Emerson and in the greater community.
The choir fills several roles at Emerson, as you might expect. We enhance Sunday worship services and provide a venue for Emersonians who want to sing. As an intimate part of the Emerson community, Choir Members get to serve the congregation, nurture their own spiritual growth, and grow as a musician.
The Emerson Choir is comprised of 30+ voices. It rehearses each Wednesday evening from 7:30 – 9:00PM and typically sings three Sundays each month. The music spans a variety of styles and genres, and is closely aligned with sermon topics. As a group, the choir engages in many additional activities, including district reading sessions, an annual weekend retreat, a full evening concert, a master class with a well-known vocalist/teacher, an exchange performance with another UU congregation, and more. Anyone Emerson member or frequent guest is welcome to join the choir, no matter what their musical background. Just speak to any choir member or simply show up on a Wednesday night!
