Faith Formation For Children and Youth

1st- 4th Grade

Welcome to Emerson’s Sunday Faith Formation class for 1st -4thth graders. Our experienced, dedicated teachers have a passion and gifts for guiding young explorers on a journey of UU faith discovery! With the 7 Principles and 8 Sources of UU faith at the core of the class time together, children experience story-telling, meditative practices, friendship-building, an array of hands-on activities, music, and service-to-others opportunities to nurture their growing spirituality as UU’s.

5th -8th Grade

Emerson’s “Coming of Age” landscape for spiritual growth and ethically-excited middle schoolers starts in our classroom on Sunday mornings. Together, students and teachers explore the roots of UUism for a  deep dive into the background of liberal theology and branch out to new faith-building experiences.

Jr. Youth takes the next steps of developing their own UU faith identity “around the world” by exploring neighboring world faiths; looking back in time to see the roots of liberal faith and how the UU Faith of today and tomorrow honor their own personal values through hands-on action.

9th-12th Grade

With a focus on providing a vibrant and engaged youth community that supports UU youth leadership opportunities and personal spiritual growth, Emerson’s Sr. Youth program provides teens with Sunday morning gatherings rules for sharing, absorbing, processing, and exercising new skills.

The landmarks of the Emerson youth experience are: Youth Conferences, Sunday worship involvement, class Outreach projects, planning their annual Youth Mission trip and UU identity projects, sr youth-led worship, and Bridging.
